2 Ways to Help Our Students

Staff and faculty are being asked to promote Alumni 101 this week and sign up as facilitators for First-Year Aggie Connections in the fall — opportunities to help our undergraduates at both ends of their 69�� journeys.

Graduate students also are welcome as First-Year Aggie Connections facilitators. More about this program later.

‘Connect’ With First-Year Aggies in the Fall

Spring quarter is just getting started, and one program is already gearing up for fall: First-Year Aggie Connections seeks facilitators (staff, faculty or graduate students) to meet up with “connections” of new freshmen, transfer students and international students.

Connecting With Students in Their 1st Year

We were all new at 69�� once, and wasn’t it nice to make that first connection? Now you have the opportunity to connect with incoming freshman and transfer students — by way of First-Year Aggie Connections.

The program is inviting faculty, staff and graduate students to serve as facilitators for “connections” in fall quarter. Each connection comprises about 25 students and is built around a shared purpose, interest or theme.

Campus prepares for large influx of students in 2016-17

The campus is marshaling its efforts and resources to accommodate 2016-17 enrollment growth of 1,100 new undergraduates beyond last fall's entering class.

The campus is responding to targets that UC President Janet Napolitano set under a plan to increase systemwide enrollment of new California undergraduates by 10,000 over the next three years, including 5,000 freshmen and transfer students in 2016-17.
