SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity Announces Multiyear Naming Rights Partnerships With 69�� Health and 69��

The SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity, or MOSAC, is excited to announce two separate naming partnerships with 69�� Health and the University of California, Davis. These agreements give 69�� Health naming rights to MOSAC’s current Health Headlines and future Health Gallery, and 69�� will name the Digital Dome Theater.

The Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art is set to reopen to the public on June 3, following a 14-month closure due to the pandemic.

On this month’s episode, the museum’s founding director, Rachel Teagle, discusses the four new exhibitions on display: “Wayne Thiebaud Influencer: A New Generation,” “Working Proof: Wayne Thiebaud as Printmaker,” “Andrea Bowers: Education Should Be Free” and “Arnold Joseph Kemp: I would survive. I could survive. I should survive.”

The 69�� Manetti Shrem Museum Points to a New Direction in U.S. Museum Design

Construction is nearing completion on the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, a contemporary art museum set amid the expansive views of California’s Central Valley and surrounding farmlands. At the grand opening on Nov. 13, visitors will experience a new form of museum architecture, one achieved by integrating outdoors and indoors, blurring the usual hierarchical relationship between exhibition and teaching spaces, that furthers the museum’s educational mission.

Wayne Thiebaud Donates Major Works of Art to New 69�� Museum

Wayne Thiebaud — the legendary painter known for his colorful paintings of landscapes, portraits and good-enough-to-eat desserts — this week presented to the University of California, Davis, some of his treasured paintings.

The Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, under construction at the University of California, Davis, will open to the public on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016.

The architecturally significant new museum of art has been designed by associated architects SO — IL, an innovative, emerging practice based in Brooklyn, New York, and Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, a nationally known firm based in San Francisco, Seattle and Pennsylvania.
