UC Launches Million Light Bulb Challenge Community Buy Program

The University of California is spearheading a statewide effort to advance the purchase of 1 million high-quality, energy-efficient light bulbs for campus buildings and residences across the state.

Under the Community Buy Program, all UC students, staff, faculty, retirees and alumni can purchase light bulbs at nearly half the price of online competitors.

California Climate Research Institute Proposed to Boost Climate Research and Action

California scientists spanning all 10 UC campuses and some private institutions are proposing a climate research institute that would help the state put climate solutions into practice, boosting both climate research and climate action.

The plans and inspiration behind the proposed California Climate Science and Solutions Institute are described in an Aug. 16 news article in Nature.
