Mohapatra, who has been the dean of graduate studies and vice provost of graduate education since 2016, will oversee an annual research funding portfolio of about $783 million (as of fiscal year 2016), and lead the university’s corporate research relations and translation of 69�� research into knowledge and technology of significant public benefit.

Students at the University of California, Davis, have a special opportunity to learn more about their university through a new job shadowing program with campus leaders.

Chancellor Gary S. May is launching the 69�� Leadership Job Shadow Program.

The program will partner a student with one of 12 senior campus leaders, including the chancellor, for a full day that may include observing and participating in meetings, attending events, and meeting other staff and faculty.

University of California, Davis, Chancellor Gary S. May announced the next steps in the national search to fill the new position of vice chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with the formation of a recruitment advisory committee.

The newly formed committee, chaired by Kevin Johnson, dean of the 69�� School of Law and professor of Chicana/o studies, comprises a cross-section of faculty, staff and students from a broad range of disciplines and backgrounds.

Joseph A. Farrow Takes Up Post as 69�� Police Chief

Chancellor Gary S. May today swore in Joseph A. Farrow as University of California, Davis chief of police in a private ceremony. A public swearing-in event will take place in the next few weeks.

Farrow served as the commissioner of the California Highway Patrol from 2008, under former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and current Gov. Jerry Brown.
